Angular bottle, pale green feldspathic crackle glaze with bronze and silver inclusions

£1,000.00

Dimensions: 26.5 H x 11 W

Here’s a another relatively unusual form for me, an angular bottle, made using a high iron stoneware clay body that’s coated in a dark green feldspathic crackle glaze and reduction fired to cone ten, (1290ºC), you can watch me make it here: https://youtu.be/XEnsfm1MxJI. This piece was made with clay that contained bronze and silver fragments and it’s these that have turned into the crimson and grey dots that cover certain parts of the form.

These pots are dishwasher safe and food safe, although please take care, washing by hand is the best option. All my pots are made with a high iron content clay body that is heavily reduction fired. This means that sharper edges can be susceptible to chipping if they’re bashed so please handle your pots with care. I personally always hand wash my handmade pottery and tend not to use them in microwaves. Remember, this isn’t mass produced factory ceramics, each pot is individual. Additionally, crackle glazes like this can stain naturally overtime with liquids such as tea or coffee. The pots themselves are highly vitrified and there’s nothing toxic or dangerous that can leach out from the crackle glazes. This is simply a byproduct of having such surfaces and you’ll find that crackle glazes, or crazing like this, can appear in wood fired pots, soda fired pots and salt fired wares too.
