Set of five angular with inserted bronze fragments (2)

£500.00

Dimensions: 8.4 H x 13.5 W (Each)

A set of five hand thrown and trimmed angular bowls made from a high iron stoneware clay body, coated with a pale green, almost blue feldspathic crackle glaze that’s been reduction fired to cone ten, (1290ºC). Then, once leather hard, I inserted fragments of bronze into them, to create points that could be lined up, adding a sense of uniformity to all of the pieces. I even made a YouTube video about that process, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/gDu5Hjpane0

These pots are dishwasher safe and food safe, although please take care, washing by hand is the best option. All my pots are made with a high iron content clay body that is heavily reduction fired. This means that sharper edges can be susceptible to chipping if they’re bashed so please handle your pots with care. I personally always hand wash my handmade pottery and tend not to use them in microwaves. Remember, this isn’t mass produced factory ceramics, each pot is individual. Additionally, crackle glazes like this can stain naturally overtime with liquids such as tea or coffee. The pots themselves are highly vitrified and there’s nothing toxic or dangerous that can leach out from the crackle glazes. This is simply a byproduct of having such surfaces and you’ll find that crackle glazes, or crazing like this, can appear in wood fired pots, soda fired pots and salt fired wares too.
