Each measures approximately: 9.5 H x 7.6 W
These hold approximately 330 ml.
A trio of mugs with singed handles. This is caused by carbon trapping, carbon, yes, that’s encased in the glaze early on in the firing. This happens from time to time and by itself can be quite a shock, nonetheless, it’s a quality that I rather like as it separates them from the usual mugs and in this instance, it indicates the area where the vessel is held, which I rather like. These come in pale green and a white feldspathic crackle glaze, made from a high iron stoneware clay body and reduction fired to cone ten, (1290ºC).
These pots are dishwasher safe and food safe, although please take care, washing by hand is the best option. All my pots are made with a high iron content clay body that is heavily reduction fired. This means that sharper edges can be susceptible to chipping if they’re bashed so please handle your pots with care. I personally always hand wash my handmade pottery and tend not to use them in microwaves. Remember, this isn’t mass produced factory ceramics, each pot is individual. Additionally, crackle glazes like this can stain naturally overtime with liquids such as tea or coffee. The pots themselves are highly vitrified and there’s nothing toxic or dangerous that can leach out from the crackle glazes. This is simply a byproduct of having such surfaces and you’ll find that crackle glazes, or crazing like this, can appear in wood fired pots, soda fired pots and salt fired wares too.
